St. Peter Academy – JJA Program 2012

Summer is fast approaching and I am pleased to announce that the St. Peter Academy JJA program will be in full swing again this year. The JJA program will run from Wednesday, June 6th – Friday, August 17th and will serve children starting at age 2.9 (must be FULLY potty-trained). As the JJA program coordinator, I will be working with (3) St. Peter Academy faculty members, Kerry Leard, Taylor Carthas, and Erin Noonan as well as (1) Full –time aide, Tia DiRienzo. They will be taking care of your children and conducting learning experiences and daily on-site activities. There will be a minimum of (2) teachers on site at all times, and all teachers and myself will attend all off-site field trips. The child/teacher ratio is 10:1. There are 2 options available and days are flexible. Option 1 is ½ day from 8-3 @$50/day. Option 2 is a full day from 8-6@ $65/day. You can send your child every day or 1 day, it is totally up to you, and you are only charged for the days your child attends. Bills are sent out weekly and can be paid weekly, biweekly, or monthly.

The JJA Program institutes a theme-based curriculum, each week being dedicated to a particular area of interest. The activities and projects that we focus on during a particular week revolve around this theme and culminate in an off-site field trip. The teachers and I have as much fun as the children during the summer at this program. Attached to this letter is a June, July, and August calendar. Please write your child’s name at the top of each calendar and check off the days and hours your child will be attending. (These dates are not etched in stone and can be changed. I am just trying to figure out how many children are interested for staffing purposes.) Send these calendars back to the school as soon as possible.

– Janice Carthas

The Human Services Employment Ladder Program (H.E.L.P.) is an eight week Human Services training program that prepares participants to become entry-level Direct Support Professionals in the field of Human Services.
