Climate Response Plan
South Boston Association of Nonprofits initiated a local collaboration to develop a climate-responsive recovery plan, fostering sustainability and resilience in the aftermath of a major climate event. The initiative focused on building capacity among diverse stakeholders, cultivating strong partnerships, and establishing a robust framework for continuous improvement. We extend our sincere thanks to Liberty Mutual Foundation for their generous grant funding, which made this collaborative effort possible and strengthened our collective ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from climate-related challenges.

Our collaboration engaged a wide range of stakeholders, including leaders and partners from South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation, South Boston Neighborhood House, South Boston En Accion, the Boston Public Health Commission, The DelValle Institute for Emergency Preparedness, representation from elected officials' offices, and the City of Boston Office of Emergency Management.

Through this work, we hosted multiple Ready, Safe, Healthy training sessions with the Boston Public Health Commission; participated in the People-Centered Response and Recovery Summit at UMass Boston; joined a Small Business Continuity Training Program; attended the MassEnergize Community Climate Leaders Annual Conference; and took part in the 2025 Climate Prep Week with Communities Responding to Extreme Weather (CREW). Collectively, these efforts enabled SBANP to expand its reach within South Boston, connect with some of our most vulnerable residents -- including older adults (55+) and low-income families -- to share critical resources to support a safer, healthier, and more resilient community.
